Over 75 events will be held at the spacious Las Vegas Convention Center, including Singles, Doubles, Para, Hardbat, and other Specialty Events. The Las Vegas Hotel and Casino is offering special pricing for attendees, and is conveniently located next to the Convention Center: no driving necessary! Lily Zhang Wins Women’s ITTF-North American Cup Title

Lily Zhang US Nat 2012 ALily Zhang won the 2013, ITTF-North American Cup in Westchester NY. Her ICC/STIGA Team mate, Timothy Wang was runner-up to Andre Ho from Canada. Both Lily and Timothy continue to show consistent winning results in major events. Credit goes to these two talented players and their dedication to training, as-well-as to their coaches and to the tremendous support they all receive from the ICC/STIGA Elite Team.

The Largest Ping Pong Club in the Nation now calls Portland Home!

The Largest Ping Pong Club in the Nation has recently opened in the trendy Pearl District in Portland, Oregon. Pure Pong in the Pearl offers 16,500 square feet and capacity for up to 30 tables. The club welcomes everybody from novice to Olympic level. It is fun for all, with drop-in play, tournaments, leagues, parties. And it’s open 10am to 10pm, seven days a week!

Coaching Tip: Importance of Constant Competition

One thing that always stands out from years of coaching is that those who play in tournaments regularly almost always improve faster than those who do not. There are players who train and train, but do not get the constant feedback you get from playing in tournaments, and so the training doesn’t always transfer into improvement. Also, players who do not play tournaments regularly are not “tournament tough,” and so do not play as well as players who compete in tournaments regularly. (Note – when I talk about playing in tournaments, this includes league matches as well, as long as you are playing a lot of different players there.)

Lily Zhang and Timothy Wang Finish at the top of the US Team Trials!

Congratulations to Timothy Wang and Lily Zhang for their respective number 1 finishes at the US Team Trials in San Jose, CA. In her charge to the number one spot on the Women’s Team, Lily did not loss a single match, while Timothy finished as number one on the Men’s Team with just one match loss! With these impressive finishes the two US National Champions continue to show why they deserve to be at the top of US table tennis.
