Saarbruecken is German Champion! These words echoed in the whole Sarre region last Sunday. With a victory of 3 -1 the 1. FC Saarbruecken won the finals of the German league against Ochsenhausen.

Patrick Franziska has put the bases of the victory by delivering a breathtaking game against Hugo Calderano and by maintaining the suspense until the very end of the match. The players ended the fourth set on a score of 2 – 2 and remained on an eye-to-eye competition level. The tension was at a high-rise, especially as Calderano managed to counter Franziska’s two match balls. As both players respectively evened up with 10 in the last set, game extensions had to be played. With a 12 – 10 in the last set, Franziska ended up the game victoriously on a score of 3 -2.

Shang Kun too showed winner’s qualities.

Although his adversary, Simon Gauzy, started leading, Kun did not get discouraged. The young 29-year old player won the first set on 11 – 8 and the second one on 11 -7. Gauzy won the third set on 11 – 9 and took the lead in the last set. This situation did not weaken Kun’s determination: he took the first and second match balls and ended the game on a victory of 3 – 1.

Jakub Dyjas vs Darko Jorgic was Ochsenhausen lone victory with Dyjas winning a tightly contested 4 game match with the first three games all going deuce.

The last match was highly tensed: Shang Kun lost the first set (9 – 5), but rapidly took the lead with 11 -9, followed by 11 – 6 and 11 – 9, which conferred his first Champion title in Saarbruecken.

TIBHAR is very proud of the 1. FCS TT team and congratulates each player very heartily for this hard victory, which will surely contribute to the mile stones of the history of the club of Saarbruecken.
